Description
The modular nature of the Pine Research headstage cable kit allows users to swap out parts as necessary. For example, the microelectrode-headstage coupler (i.e. “fly-wires”) is likely to be pulled during use and could lead to a shorted or disconnected wire. Traditionally, this couple was part of one single headstage cable and would prevent its use until issue resolved. No longer. Keep an extra pack of these microelectrode-headstage couplers, now with a longer 2.5″ length, handy to keep your research productivity high and efficient. Five microelectrode-headstage couplers are included with this product.
We chose to terminate our headstage cable with these flywires because they are easy to use, easy to replace, available in more than one length, and ideally, adding a simple PCB socket pin to connect your electrodes is a simple task to do. The PCB receptacle on our flywires work with PCB pins as follows:
Local researchers use a 0.020inch (0.53mm) diameter pin to build their electrodes (they solder pins to the end of their CFME lead wires or to their AgCl reference lead wires):
Multicomp (PN: SPC15510), available from Newark (PN: 82K7798). This item will provide 40 PCB pins that mate with our connectors:
Pine Research flywire electrode receptacles should work with PCB pins whose diameter are 0.015 – 0.028 inch (0.38 to 0.71 mm).
