E4TQ ChangeDisk RDE Tip PTFE

SKU: AFE4TQ050 Category: Tag:

MAXIMUM ROTATION RATE: 2000 RPM — Never exceed maximum rotation rate when working with rotating electrodes.

The E4TQ Series ChangeDisk RDE design offers a unique interchangeable disk option that permits the same RDE tip to be used repeatedly with different disk inserts.

  • Disk OD = 5.0 mm
  • ChangeDisk RDE Tip; 12.0 mm OD PTFE shroud and PCTFE body
  • Accepts disk inserts 5.0 mm OD x 4.0 mm thick (sold separately)
  • Compatible with the MSR, ASR, and CPR rotators
  • NOTE:  The opening diameter of the tip is in the range of 4.724 – 4.775 mm by design.  Users must employ the AFE4K050 toolkit to properly install and remove disk inserts.  The interference fit ensures a tight seal around the disk.

See “Description” tab below for additional precautions and information.

Description

MAXIMUM ROTATION RATE: 2000 RPM — Never exceed maximum rotation rate when working with rotating electrodes.

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 10°C – 25°C — Electrode damage may occur at temperatures beyond recommended range.

INCOMPATIBILITY WARNING:  soft or fragile disk insert materials (e.g., lead and pyrolytic graphite) are incompatible with this series electrode.

This series of RDE tips may be used with the MSR, ASR, and CPR rotators.

These RDE tips feature a 12.0 mm OD PTFE shroud and PCTFE body (opaque middle section) and are designed with the same thread connections as our standard 12.0 mm OD RDE tips, making it easy to switch between RDE tips using the same shaft.  Designed for advanced electrochemical experiments (e.g. fuel cell electrocatalyst screening), these RDE tips provide the platform you need to accomplish your research goals.

BE ADVISED!  The opening diameter of the AFE4TQ holder for 5 mm OD disk inserts is in the range of 4.724 – 4.775 mm.  This is by design and not a manufacturing error.  Users must employ the AFE4K050 toolkit to properly insert and remove disk inserts into the tip.  The fit is extremely tight, by design, called an interference fit.  You will not likely be able to insert a disk by hand given the dimensions of the holder.

E4TQ Series RDE tips feature removable disk inserts (sold separately).  Standard metal disk inserts offered by Pine Research are 5.0 mm OD x 4.0 mm thick and are fabricated from gold, platinum, or glassy carbon; however, disks may be made from other materials or dimensions upon request.  A toolkit (sold separately) and polishing kit (sold separately) are also required to change and polish the metal disk insert between experiments.

Compatible shafts include AFE3M for use with the MSR rotator, AFE3A for use with the ASR rotator, and AFE3F for non-rotating applications.
