Description
MAXIMUM ROTATION RATE: 4000 RPM — Never exceed maximum rotation rate when working with rotating electrodes.
TEMPERATURE RANGE: 10°C – 80°C — Electrode damage may occur at temperatures beyond recommended range.
CHEMICAL INCOMPATIBILITIES: Concentrated Strong Acids — Damage or discoloration may occur.
This series of RCE tips may be used with the MSR Rotator.
The WaveDriver 100 Potentiostat with EIS and RCE Bundle was developed to include what scientists want as an essential RCE system. We have collected input for years and find that all items in this bundle, brought together with compatibility in mind, enable the research to engage in RCE based experiments, practically out of the box. This unique bundle includes everything you need to get started doing Rotating Cylinder Electrode (RCE) experiments. The bundle includes the benchtop potentiostat WaveDriver 100 Potentiostat/Galvanostat system with EIS and our popular AFMSRCE Rotator system. The 15 mm RCE shaft is included as well as a counter electrode (graphite) and all necessary glassware and accessories. Our WaveDriver 100 Potentiostat with EIS and RCE Bundle is a standard for corrosion laboratories and service companies around the world, and it meets the criteria set forth by ASTM standards G31, G170, and G185.
Reference electrode is not included with the WaveDriver 100/MSR 15 mm RCE Bundle. Standard sized reference electrodes are sold separately.
Alternate Hastelloy rod pseudo-reference electrode can be purchased from Pine Research. This electrode is useful for corrosion experiments using non-aqueous or mixed aqueous/non-aqueous solutions.
The WaveDriver 100 is an affordable benchtop potentiostat/galvanostat system capable of performing a wide variety of traditional single working electrode methods, including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The WaveDriver 100 is a robust single channel potentiostat, with an impressive current range from ±5 pA up to ±1 A, advanced input, output, and waveform filters, EIS to 1 MHz, and iR compensation. The WaveDriver 100 connects to your laptop or PC via a standard USB cable and is controlled by our power AfterMathTM Data Organizer software application. Rear panel connections allow rotation rate control when using rotating disk, cylinder, or ring-disk electrodes. Additional connections for analog input/output and synchronized timing permit the WaveDriver to be used in conjunction with other instruments.
Affordable. Take a look around at similar potentiostat/galvanostat systems and you will have a difficult time finding one with comparable specs and capabilities at the same modest price point. Pine Research strives to bring you cost-effective electrochemical instrumentation. The WaveDriver 100 also includes a four option dummy cell for calibration checking and instrument function testing, at no additional cost.
Versatile. Capable of performing more than 40 different techniques, the WaveDriver 100 is an all-around performer. It it commonly used for both academic and industrial research around the world. Unlike many of its peers, the WaveDriver 100 was built to perform a little bit of everything and without added cost of different software “upgrades.”
Capable. Designed with the everyday user in mind, the specifications for the WaveDriver 100 potentiostat is broad enough to permit you to perform a wide range of routine electrochemical techniques but also prudently chosen to allow for a simple and affordable design. Popular and common techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, bulk electrolysis, differential pulse voltammetry, square wave and pulse voltammetry, battery charge/discharge sequences, corrosion-based analysis such as linear polarization resistance, chronoamperometry, and chronopotentiometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are easily configured and executed using our AfterMath software package.
The 15-mm OD Rotating Cylinder Electrode (RCE) system features a number of improvements over previous designs which will assist you in your high velocity (high shear) corrosion testing. The larger 15-mm diameter gives you more wall shear at the cylinder surface at a given rotation rate (as compared to the traditional 12-mm OD design).
Insulation. All shaft components are fabricated from a chemically resistant polymer (PEEK) to protect the shaft from corrosive attack during testing. At elevated temperatures, this polymer has good mechanical stability as compared to the traditional PTFE-based 12-mm OD design.
One Liter Cell. With an overall one liter capacity, the cell features a removable lid with six flexible side ports. You can equip your cell with a variety of accessories (condenser, pH measurement, thermowell, each sold separately) while still having enough ports for the reference and counter electrode. Cells with drain valves and water jackets are also available.
Alignment. The standard RCE glass cell features a special recess in the bottom of the cell into which the lower end of the RCE shaft is inserted. This recess provides a guide for aligning the shaft along the center line of the cell.
Purging. A dual port purge accessory is included with the cell which permits you to sparge the solution and/or blanket the solution with a purge gas. In addition, the gas-purged bearing assembly, through which the rotating shaft enters the cell, has a separate purge port so that you can maintain a positive purging pressure within the internal space of the bearing itself.
Specimens. The lower end of the electrode shaft accepts 15 mm OD x 6.4 mm tall replaceable cylinder inserts. The nominal cylindrical surface area exposed to the solution is 3.0 square centimeters. Standard cylinder inserts fabricated from a variety of steel materials are offered by Pine Research. Custom cylinder inserts fabricated from other materials are available upon request. Alternately, cylinder inserts with the appropriate dimensions may be fabricated by the customer.
Contact. Reliable electrical contact between the shaft and the replaceable cylinder insert is accomplished using a spring-loaded ball plunger which pushes against the inside diameter of the cylinder insert.
